The post came as a reply inside a thread that started with Crusoe CEO Chase Lochmiller congratulating OpenAI on the Astra launch and noting that Crusoe's Abilene, Texas data center facility had been used to train the model — Lochmiller's own words were "I guess this makes Abilene the birthplace of AGI." Huang's reply built directly on that framing:

"GPT-6 Astra, trained on ~100K+ NVIDIA Grace Blackwell NVLink72. From ChatGPT to o1 to Astra in 4 years. AGI has arrived. Congratulations OpenAI team. 400K GPUs coming online next."

Three separate claims are stacked in four sentences:

  1. A hardware fact — Astra trained on more than 100,000 Grace Blackwell NVLink72 GPUs, NVIDIA's current top-of-line rack-scale training system.

A separate, recurring thread of replies had nothing to do with Astra's capability at all: a vocal group of users used the moment to demand OpenAI restore access to a previous, deprecated GPT-4 series model they preferred for non-technical, conversational use — a reminder that a meaningful slice of any frontier lab's user base is not evaluating "AGI" claims on capability benchmarks at all, but on whether a specific model they had a working relationship with is still available to them.

Fair hearing for the technical point buried in the tweet
