Demis Hassabis is the co-founder and chair of Google DeepMind and chief scientist of Alphabet. In a 2026 leadership announcement, Google said he would hand over day-to-day operational responsibilities at DeepMind to focus on AI strategy and science, while continuing to lead Isomorphic Labs.
Hassabis shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for protein structure prediction. His work with John Jumper on AlphaFold2 helped researchers predict the three-dimensional shapes of proteins, supporting scientific applications including pharmaceutical and environmental research.
