explainx.ai didn't start with a plan. It started with one AI course uploaded to Udemy and a domain that pointed nowhere. No website, no audience, no strategy — just a belief that practical AI education was missing from the market.

First real footing
A website, clients, and the first bootcamps.
We shipped a proper website and started bringing in corporate clients. Ten courses were live. Ten training sessions were delivered through partnerships. Two bootcamps ran. It was scrappy and operator-led, but it worked — real revenue, real students, real feedback.

The platform experiment
We tried to become a learning platform. It didn't work.
The honest version: we transitioned explainx.ai into a full learning platform and struggled. The product was too unfocused, the market was already saturated with LMS players, and we were competing on the wrong dimension. We kept shipping courses and delivering bootcamps through partners — 30 courses total, 10 more bootcamps — but the platform itself wasn't clicking.

Simplify
We decided to focus on the newsletter.
Instead of doubling down on the platform, we stripped back and committed to doing one thing well: a newsletter that actually helps people keep up with AI. No bloat, no feature creep. Just useful signal for people navigating a fast-moving space.

The pivot that stuck
explainx.ai becomes an AI skill discovery platform.
We rebuilt explainx.ai around a new insight: developers don't just need courses — they need to find and install agent skills, MCP servers, and AI tools instantly. The skills registry launched, grew fast, and gave the platform a clear identity. This is what people actually came back for.

Right now
Tools registry, first own workshop live.
We expanded the registry beyond skills to include the full AI tools ecosystem. And for the first time, we launched our own workshop directly through explainx.ai — not through a partner. After years of training with Codecademy, Udemy, and corporate clients, we now own the full learner experience end-to-end.
