Skill Issue

Skill issue is a dismissive phrase used, often jokingly, to blame a bad AI result on how it was prompted or used rather than on the model itself.

Ask Melo about this← all terms

The phrase predates AI as general internet slang for "you're the problem, not the tool." In AI communities it's thrown around in both directions: sometimes fairly, when better prompting or context really would fix the output, and sometimes as a deflection from genuine model limitations.
